FAQ: Why Am I Not Getting Insights?

This topic covers the most common reasons why you might not be getting insights.

Not Signed In

Be sure to sign into your Autodesk account from within your product, as insights are created based on your account profile. If you are not signed in, your usage data will not be collected for new insights.

Not the Right Product

Not all Autodesk products support insights. Currently, only AutoCAD and Revit users will see insights. While this does not currently include the AutoCAD-based specialized toolsets or AutoCAD LT, we are working to include more products in the future.

Low Product Usage

Insights require a minimal amount of product usage. If you are a casual user of the product, we might not have enough usage data to provide you meaningful insights.

Not an End-User of the Product

Only users of the product will see insights related to product feature usage. If you are an administrator of a product, you may also see insights related to seat assignment and usage as part of Team Insights.

Account and License Type

Insights are only available if:

Note: Insights are not supported for AutoCAD-based specialized toolsets or AutoCAD LT products.

Environment Restrictions

Some companies restrict data collection for all users or block data collection with networking tools.

Emails Are Not Being Received

Autodesk My Insights emails are sent from productinsights@autodeskcommunications.com. You may need to check your Spam or Junk folder, and make sure you can receive emails from productinsights@autodeskcommunications.com. In addition, you might also want to check your Electronic Communications setting in your Autodesk Account by following the steps under How Do I Change My Email Communication Preferences?

Data Collection Is Turned Off (2022 Release Products and Earlier)

Note: Data collection cannot be turned off in 2023 release products and later, but you can change your product privacy settings. See How Do I Change My Product Privacy Settings? for more information.

Turn data collection on by doing the following:

  1. Launch the application and open a file.
  2. Depending on the application, do one of the following:
    • AutoCAD - On the ribbon, click Help drop-down menu > Desktop Analytics (or enter desktopanalytics at the Command prompt).
    • Revit - On application frame, click Help drop-down menu > Privacy Settings.
  3. In the Data Collection and Use dialog box, clear "I Agree to Data Collection in Desktop Products for Autodesk Analytics Programs".
  4. Click OK.
