The Canvas & Widget framework provides advanced layout design options for many of the pages in Flow Production Tracking.

To create a new Canvas page, just click on the "+" button in the top right corner of the interface, and choose "Page," then set type to Canvas.

To begin designing an existing Canvas page, select "Design Page" from the Page menu in the top right side of the screen. This puts the entire Page into "design mode".  Now you're ready to get down to business.  Here are your options:

1. Create, edit, duplicate, and delete views: Select to add a new view. You can also select on the view menu to see options to move, duplicate, rename, insert, or delete.

2. Add widgets to the page from the widget library: The Widgets tab shows you all the available widgets you can add to a canvas page, and appears by default as soon as you bring a canvas page into design mode. Select one of the widgets, and then drag and drop into the canvas. When you add a widget to a canvas tab, it will prompt you to configure it. If you skip this step, and try to save the canvas page, you’ll be prompted with a message to first configure all unconfigured widgets.

3. Controlling permissions and the view with columns and rows: Select the View tab to modify the permissions for who can see the view. Uncheck the permissions checkboxes for any roles you wish to exclude from being able to see the tab. When that role arrives at the canvas page URL, they won’t even realize the tab is there. Also, access tools that allow you to adjust the number of rows and columns, and specify the column widths.

4. Arrange widgets on the page: Widgets can be moved around via drag and drop.

5. Configuring widgets: You can configure each widget by clicking on the “Edit” link in the widget’s toolbar. This takes you to a full page layout with all available configuration options, including widget title, the Entity to display (Shot, Asset, Note, etc.), a query, and other options. More details about each widget type and their configuration options are listed below.

Widget types

Here is a list of the available widgets in the widget library:

Widget Type
Grid	A spreadsheet-like list of details for a filtered set of records.
Task & Gantt	A list of filtered Tasks with the Gantt pane enabled.
Thumbnails	Displays the thumbnails for a filtered group of records.
Single Thumbnail	Displays one thumbnail for a single record, such as a Project or Person. Commonly used on a record's detail page.
Fields	A list of fields and values for a single record, such as a Project or Person.
Web Page	An embedded webpage from a URL. Note: You cannot embed web pages which block iFrames. Furthermore, embedding a page with authentications in an iFrame may result in unexpected behavior since it is outside of our control.
Graph	A bar chart for a filtered group of records. Read more.
My Task History	Shows the last 5 changes to Tasks assigned to the person viewing the page.
Countdown	Shows the number of days before a delivery or milestone.
Divider	A horizontal divider.
