Secure Plugin Loading

Before loading plugins that originate from untrusted sources (such as internet websites or forums), we recommend enabling Secure Plugin Loading in the Preferences. While this feature is active, Maya will prevent plugins in non-trusted locations (i.e. those outside Maya's default trusted locations as well as those specified by the user) from loading without your knowledge: either by asking you permission to continue, or denying the plugin from loading entirely.
Note: Secure File Loading is enabled by default.

To enable/disable Secure Plugin Loading

  1. Go to Windows > Settings / Preferences > Preferences.
  2. Click the Security > Plugins section.
  3. Turn on/off Secure Plugin Loading.
  4. (Optional) Set the desired Default action for non-trusted locations to determine how Maya reacts when it attempts to load a plug-in from a non-trusted location.

To add/remove a trusted location

  1. Go to Windows > Settings / Preferences > Preferences.
  2. Click the Security > Plugins section.
    • Click the Add button next to My trusted plugin locations and enter a file path to add it.
    • Click a trusted location in the My trusted plugin locations list and click the Remove button to remove it.
Note: Maya also has a default list of trusted plugin locations that do not appear in this list.
