Use the Toolpath Connections item to specify the connecting segments of a toolpath. This enables you to easily define rapid move clearances, tool safe areas, and non-cutting segments.
Vertical Arc lead in move
Straight lead out move
Skim link move
Approach move
Retract move
Click Home tab > Toolpath Setup panel > Toolpath Connections to display the
Toolpath connections dialog.
Note: The dialog is called
Setup connections when accessed from the
Setup dialog.
The tabs on the dialog depend on the type of strategy that is active:
Milling strategies
- Safe area — Specifies the size and shape of the safe area in which the tool can moves at a rapid rate.
- Moves and clearances — Specifies the limits of rapid moves and clearances.
- Start and end point — Specifies the location and orientation of the start and end points of the toolpath.
- Lead ins — Specifies the tool's motion before a cutting move.
- Lead outs — Specifies the tool's motion after a cutting move.
- Links — Specifies the link moves between cutting moves in a toolpath.
- Point distribution — Specifies the distribution of points along the leads and links in a toolpath.
Turning strategies
- Start and end point — Specifies the location and reference point of the toolpath's start and end points.
- Leads and links — Specifies the tool movement before, after, and between cutting moves for a turning toolpath.
Note: This tab is only available if a turning toolpath is activated.
