Troubleshooting: Cannot Find a Tab, Tool, or Feature

If you cannot locate a tab in the ribbon or a tool or feature in the user interface, the missing item may not be enabled in your implementation of Revit.

New features and enhancements for software updates are available only to Autodesk subscribers and students.

If you are not on subscription, some of the features described in the Help are not available in your version of the software. To gain access to these features and enhancements, become an Autodesk subscriber. Learn about subscriber benefits and options at About Autodesk Subscription and www.autodesk.com/subscription.

If you are an Autodesk subscriber, make sure you have the latest software update installed. Do one of the following:

If you determine that you have the latest software update and you still don't see the missing tool or feature, your BIM manager may have disabled certain sets of tools before deploying the software to your computer, based on discipline. Discuss your needs with the BIM manager.

In other cases, you can enable or disable sets of tools for your implementation of Revit, as follows:

  1. Click File tab Options.
  2. In the Options dialog, click the User Interface tab.
  3. Under Tools and Analyses, select the check boxes to enable the ribbon tabs and tools that you want to use.

Ribbon tools and tabs may also be hidden if you created a user profile when you started Revit. In this case, display tabs and tools using the steps above.
